Coombe Farm’s Swimming Pool

We love swimming and our outdoor pool is great. Often it’s the first thing guests do when they arrive on their holiday, jump straight in! It is set away privately in the green farm fields which is a peaceful spot for a dip and a great way of exercising.

The pool is normally heated from May to September (depending on the weather), and it’s definitely very toasty. People frequently comment with surprise how warm the pool actually is.

The pool is 10 metres long x 5 metres wide. It is 1 metre deep at the shallow end with walk in steps. As you move towards the deep end it slopes down to 2.4m deep at its deepest point. There is a ladder to get in and out at the deep end.

A large patio-ed sun terrace surrounds the pool with a range of chairs, tables and sun loungers for relaxing in the sunshine. This area is a sun-trap and really does heat up. There are a couple of parasols for sun (or rain!) cover. Some guests seem to have difficulty dragging their kids away from the pool, and end up spending the day chilling out, swimming and soaking up the sun and tranquility.

As there are only four cottages on the farm, it is more than likely our guests get the pool to themselves. Our cats often stop by to see what is going on, they haven’t fallen in … yet! The pool is fenced off and accessed via the gate, dogs are not allowed in the pool area. Nor are sheep or goats, but they have occasionally been known to try!

We enjoy nothing more than taking advantage of the built-in poolside BBQ area and popping a few sausages on while the kids swim and play. Happy children = happy parents!
