There are tonnes of brilliant things to do here in lovely Cornwall. It is hard to just pick a few, but inspired by our half-term plans, here are a selection of options for some top half term fun!
The Eden Project – Early Man
10th – 18th Feb 2018 the ever changing Eden Project are boasting a “prehistoric adventure of epic proportions”. This theme ties in with the new film from the creators of Wallace and Gromit called “Early Man”
In addition to exploring the famous biomes there are a variety of activities for kids. All activities are included in the normal admission price (buying tickets in advance is often cheaper). From being a caveman in the cave, digging for historic treasure, going on a quest, and bushcraft there will be lots of keep you busy and having fun!
Carnewas at Bedruthan Steps
Bedruthan, near Padstow, Cornwall, PL27 7UW
First thing with a trip to a Cornish Beach – always check the tide. That done, and timings planned, and you have left to do is get ready to enjoy! Mind you if the beach is inaccessible, you could always just view the spectacular rocks from the cliff tops at Carnewas.
Carnewas comes from the Cornish Karn Havos, which means rock-pile of summer dwelling. Bedruthan comes from the Cornish Bos Rudhen, which means Red-one’s dwelling. This popular spot has a National Trust car park and shop, and is one of the most beautiful & breathtaking spots on the Cornish coastline. This is definitely on our half-term to do list!
Cycle the Camel Trail
Park: Wadebridge, PL27 7AL
Following the trail of former railway lines, this wide flat bridle path is used by roughly 400,000 people per year. We recommend cycling from Wadebridge to Padstow, stop off for lunch or an ice cream, then back again. There is another leg from Wadbridge on to Bodmin if you are feeling particularly energetic. The view along the Camel estuary are fantastic, and distract you from your achy legs. Bikes can be hired , and all the Coombe Farm team can make the under 10 mile loop from the 4 year old to the 75 year old.
The Maritime Museum – Falmouth
Cornwall Trust, Discovery Quay, Falmouth, Cornwall, TR11 3QY
This is a brilliant museum, a good option for a rainy day. There is lots to see and do. From the Mutiny on the Bounty; to local Cornish fisherman there is something for everyone. Definitely one of the best museums we’ve been to. There are daily craft activitiese, an adventurers play zone, and 15 galleries over 4 floors.
This half-term they are exploring the theme of the Science of the Sea. With what promises to be some pretty spectacular live science experiments in association with the University of Exeter, this looks awesome. We’ll be there.

Explore Bodmin Moor and Climb Roughtor
Car Park: PL32 9QJ
Roughtor (pronounced locally as Ra-w-tor) is the second highest Tor on Bodmin Moor, being 400m above sea level at the summit. About a mile and a half from the car park to the summit, the walk is steep and rocky in places but well worth it.
This is a great walk in uniquely Cornish landscape, with evidence of Bronze Age and Medieval settlements. To give you an idea of it’s difficulty Ella aged 4 & Granddad both made it to the top of Roughtor, If you don’t fancy the climb there is a lovely short walk down along the river, which would be a great spot for a picnic. We haven’t seen the Beast yet, there have been recent sightings, but not locally!
