If you wanted to have a treat and eat out here are some of the restaurants, eateries, pubs and cafes that we would recommend, in no particular order. It is worth booking to avoid disappointment, and checking opening hours and whether they are serving food.

Treguddick Distillery Bar and Restaurant – Launceston, PL15 7JN. 01566 788310

Open 7 days a week, 9.30am – 5pm, this great lunch spot is about 10 minutes away. They also do brunch and afternoon tea, plus a bar with a range of their own spirits made on site.


The Rising Sun – Altarnun, PL15 7SN. 01566 86636

A great local option for high quality food. Under new management, the new team have made this a lovely fine dining experience. There are lots of local ales to choose from. A lovely rural spot. Dog friendly.


Port William at Trebarwith – Trebarwith Strand, Cornwall, PL34 0HB. 01840 770230

Situated half way up the cliff this pub has amazing coastal views. It has a wide menu catering for all tastes and daily specials. Great pub grub, stunning location. Check the tides if you are combining with a beach visit. Park in the public car park. Dog friendly.


The Eliot Arms – Tregadillett, PL15 7EU. 01566 772051

A typical English Village “local” pub the Eliot Arms is cosy, friendly, and full of horse brasses. Great for a drink. We’ve sampled the Sunday roast, basic pub grub, and big portions. 

Turn left at the end of our lane, and right onto the A395.  At the roundabout take first exit, and drive into Tregadillett. Turn into the car park on your left. Dog friendly – dogs allowed in front two areas.


St Kew Inn – Bodmin, PL30 3HB (off A39 towards Wadebridge). 01208 841259

A great traditional village pub with a huge outside area. Food is a high standard, seafood was popular with all the diners when we went, we would recommend. Dog friendly – dogs allowed in the public bar, although children are not (!). Dogs and children allowed outside.


The Crows Nest Inn – Darite, Liskeard, PL14 5JQ. 01579 345930

A gem of a pub tucked away off the beaten track at the end of Bodmin Moor. Home of spooky happenings, real ales and an open fire. Great if you are out and about near Golitha, Cheesewring or Minions on the moors.


The Deck – 19 Summerleaze Cresent, Bude EX23 8HJ. 01288 353846

Worth booking in advance if you want to visit. This is a great (but small) restaurant. Their speciality is hanging skewers of food with a choice of sauces to drizzle over. One of our favourites. Also great for cocktails and a beach view.


Francine’s Fish and Chip Takeaway – 2 Race Hill, Launceston, PL15 9BA. 01566 775126

A great local chippy with great batter. All food cooked freshly to order with friendly staff. No website.


Lifton Farm Shop – Lifton, Devon, PL16 0DE. 01566 784604

Recently extended, this is a great place to have a meal, a cream tea or purchase some local yummy produce. 


Boscastle Café and Farm Shop – Hillsborough Farm, Boscastle, PL35 0HH. 01840 250827

Set on the cliff top just up from the harbour the café serves delicious lunches, brunches and snacks. There is lovely sitting area outside with a play area for children. It is on the coastal path and the views are stunning. See if you can spot a seal! The farm shop is also very tempting.  Dogs allowed in the garden area.


Cowslip Workshops & Coffee Shop – Newhouse Farm, St.Stephens, Launceston, PL15 8JX. 01566 772839

A beautiful place home to craft workshops, a fabric shop, but best of all a lovely café and gardens with lovely views of the valleys, open all year. A great choice for a lazy cream tea in the peaceful, quirky gardens. A local hidden gem. Dogs allowed outside on the terrace and in the gardens.


The Weir Bistro – Whalesborough Farm, Marhamchurch, Bude, EX23 0JD. 01288 362213

Indoor and outdoor seating and a playground, wildlife and ducks to feed. Kids will happily play and watch the wildfowl while you enjoy your food. Lots of Bude canal walks/rides start from here. Dogs allowed outside and on the terrace.


The Cornish Arms – Churchtown, St. Merryn, Padstow, PL28 8ND. 01842 532700

Rick Stein’s country pub, it’s good and it’s popular. You can’t book (except Sunday lunch) so arrive early or prepare for a drink at the bar. Children’s menu is available. Dogs welcome.


The Springer Spaniel – Treburley, Launceston, PL15 9NS. 01579 370424

This pub serves amazing food and is great for top quality meal. Bar menu also available. Booking recommended during high season. More pricey. Dog friendly.


Cracking Crab – Higher Tristram, Polzeath, PL27 6TD. 01208 862333

This place does great seafood, and has a fabulous view out over Polzeath. The décor is great, see how many crabs you can count! Parking in the public car park. Booking advised. Dogs – clean, quiet dogs are allowed if they behave and stay under tables – naughty dogs will be asked to leave!


The Waterfront – Polzeath – Beach Road, Polzeath, PL27 6SP. 01208 869655

If in Polzeath this is a great option, you’ll find it across the road at the back of the beach. Serving dishes including pizzas, seafood and a variety of drinks, this place has a great view over the beach.


Inkies Smokehouse at Golitha Falls – Golitha Falls, Drayness Bridge, Liskeard, PL14 6RX. 07949 488655

If you go down to the woods today, go to Inkies! Very high quality smokehouse/bbq style food in a cabin in the foods. Delicious, and unusual, one of our favourites. Waffles, ice cream and coffees on offer as well.


Rick Stein The Seafood Restaurant – Riverside, Padstow, PL28 8BY. 01841 532700

This iconic restaurant needs no introduction. Fabulous, and delicious, and on the more expensive side. 


Coombeshead Farm – Lewannick, PL15 7QQ. 01566 782009

This is a local gastronomic experience. You pay a fixed price when booking for a set menu, that they offer. Everyone who has been raves about how great it is, it’s on our “to do” list!


Rick Stein’s Fish and Chips – South Quay, Padstow, Cornwall, PL28 8BL. 01841 532700

No reservations so arrive early, or have a takeaway and sit by the harbour. Some of the lightest batter ever. Very informal family setting for everyone to enjoy this great British favourite. Rick Stein also has a Café, Bistro & Seafood Restaurant in Padstow. No dogs in the restaurant.

This is an eco friendly shop and café serving breakfast, lunch, coffee and café daily. Also serves pizzas that can be ordered for takeaway. Lovely spacious outdoor area plus children’s play area.  


The Barge, Bude – The Lower Wharf, Bude Canal, EX23 8LG. 01288 356786

A traditionally styled wide beamed barge tearoom & restaurant, providing a varied choice of old and new, modern and traditional food. Good quality and good prices. 


Temple, Bude – 10 Granville Terrace, Bude, EX23 8JZ. 01288 354739

Currently our favourite place to eat in Bude this individual restaurant is not serving dishes that are a bit different. An example is our fav, the Kimchi grilled cheese hash. Vegan options.  


Life’s a Beach, Bude – Summerleaze Beach (up the stairs from the beach!) EX23 8HN. 01288 355222

Relaxed lunch spot up above Summerleaze Beach, which mostly serves in the early evening (do check the hours). Indoor and outdoor seating. Reliable food, great beach views.


Olive Tree, Bude – Lower Wharf, Bude, EX23 8LG. 01288 359577

Great location on end of the canal at Bude. Eat in; eat out, coffee house, restaurant and wine bar. 


Rosie’s Kitchen, Crooklets, Bude – Crooklets Beach, Bude, EX23 8NE. 01288 354238

A great Cornish diner with a wide selection of food and drink. Order at the till. Great lunch spot if you are at Crooklets Beach. The playground is very popular with the kids. 


The Coombe Barton, Crackington Haven – North Cornish Coast, Crackington Haven, EX23 0JG. 01840 230345

This large pub serves good quality food. It’s usually promptly served and the menu is varied. Sea views overlooking beautiful Crackington Haven beach. Dog friendly in the bar (but not the actual beach in summer!)


Widemouth Manor, Widemouth Bay – Marine Drive, Widemouth Bay, EX23 0DE. 01288 361207

One of our current favourites this spacious pub has an extensive menu, a sunset cocktail lounge (18+) with great sea views, and huge kids play area.  Dog friendly.


The Pig at Harlyn Bay – Harlyn Bay, Padstow, Cornwall, PL28 8SQ. 0345 225 9494

Pig restaurants are well known. This latest addition in Cornwall has a 25 mile menu, meaning that all the food is sourced very locally. It’s been a big hit with guests so far.


Pilchards Cafe at the Port Gaverne Hotel – PL29 3SQ. 01208 880244

Describing itself as “ultra fresh, coastal, no-ego food” this is a classy place. They really vary their specials and base the menu around Cornish seasonal produce.


Paul Ainsworth – Padstow. 01841 532093

This famous chef has several eateries down in Padstow. Paul Ainsworth at no. 6 in Padstow, and Caffe Rojano both in Padstow town by the harbour. Then there is the Mariners Pub in Rock. We can personally vouch for the Mariners serving up a rather excellent lunch you’ll remember for a long time.


Shorecrest Restaurant – St Moritz Hotel at Trebetherick – St Moritz Hotel, Trebetherick, PL27 6SD. 01208 862242

Under head chef Jonathan Domé this is a fabulous restaurant in a beautiful setting. 45 minutes away from us, we are sure a meal here would not disappoint!


Atlantic Bar and Kitchen – New Polzeath, Wadebridge, PL27 6UG

We’ve not have a change to try this personally yet, but our friends have raved about it. Menu looks to feature lots of pizza, and the setting is hard to beat.


Karrek at St Enodoc Hotel – Rock Road, Rock, Wadebridge PL27 6LA

An intimate, multi-course tasting menu restaurant celebrating the best of Cornwall, this place looks very high end. There is also a Brasserie on site.


The Bank at Bude – Pethericks Mill, Bude EX23 8TF. 01288 352070

This tapas restaurant is delicious. A lovely menu, and not a weak dish, very popular.


The Frog and Bucket – South Petherwin, PL15 7LP. 01566 776988

A lovely local pub, spacious with many different rooms, and a large outdoors area. Often a popular choice for Farmer Jez, with a relaxed vibe. Serves a selection of pub meals and Sunday roasts, as well as a great range of local beverages.


The Eagle House – 3 Castle Street, Launceston PL15 8BA. 01566 774488

Located in the centre of Launceston this newly renovated venue serves good quality modern food and drink. The terrace has wide reaching views out over the rolling hills. It also makes it’s own gin which is worth a taste.


Tintagel Brewery – Condolden Farm, Tintagel, Cornwall, UK, Tintagel PL34 0HJ. 01840 213371

Pop out to the brewery for a tour and perhaps a bite to eat. There is a light and airy cafe, and an outdoor area with a play area.


TJ’s Surf Cafe – 15 Higher Tristram, Polzeath, Wadebridge PL27 6TF. 01208863625

Another beautiful spot with a view over Polzeath Beach. We like this place as the menu is a bit different, but yummy.
