A chocolatey treat at the Seafood Restaurant is a great way to brighten up winter

Winter is a great time to explore the many gourmet options the county has to offer. A firm favourite with us is the Seafood Restaurant Charity Lunch. We’ve been so many times you could call us regulars, and it never disappoints. It’s such a fantastic opportunity to eat for a reasonable rate at this famous high end restaurant.

Padstow is well known as the home town and stomping ground of TV chef Rick Stein. It is about 45 minutes away by car from Coombe Farm Cottages. Stein owns many establishments in the village from a fish and chip shop, to a deli, and everything else right up to the renowned Seafood Restaurant. Normally it’s not in our budget, but it’s hard to resist £27 for 3 courses (plus a £2.50 charity donation), per person. In 2023 the charity lunch is running in aid of the Newquay Food Bank, from 18th January – 3rd Feb from 12 noon to 5pm everyday. Check out the menu here.

Why not make a day of it and arrive early (before you get too full), and have a wander around the harbour, watch the fishing boats coming and going and look out over the well known Doom Bar. At this time of year parking is easy, and it’s all very chilled. In peak summer, Padstow gets extremely busy and we would only ever go by the ferry boat from Rock.

We are offering short breaks during this time. Weekend breaks start at £139 for 3 nights weekend breaks (Fri-Mon), and £199 for 4 night midweek break (Mon – Fri) in a 2- 4 person cottage. Morvoren Cottage and Godrevy Barn have Woodburners for added toastiness.

Godrevy Barn, sleeping 6 people plus a travel cot, would be £189 for a 3 night weekend break, and a 4 night midweek break costs £249.

At this time of year dogs are welcome on pretty much all the Cornish beaches, as the seasonal dog restrictions start at Easter. Dogs love staying on the farm (£25 per dog per stay), they like checking our the sheep and find the goats intriguing. All the cottages have private enclosed gardens apart from Godrevy Barn, which has a balcony.
