If you’re staying in Cornwall this winter and fancy picking up some gifts (or just want an excuse for mulled wine and good food), Christmas markets are a great way to spend a December day. Here are a few of the favourites worth checking out.
Fowey Christmas Market
Early December
Fowey’s market is one of the bigger ones, with plenty of stalls spread around the town. You’ll find local makers, food producers, and lots of chances to grab something a bit different for Christmas. The atmosphere is busy but friendly, and the harbour looks lovely all lit up.
Padstow Christmas Festival
First weekend of December
This one is perfect if you like your Christmas shopping mixed with good food. There are chef demos, loads of local produce, and a proper festive feel around the harbour. It gets busy, but it’s worth it if you enjoy food markets and street-food-style stalls.
Truro Lemon Quay Christmas Markets
Throughout December
Truro runs regular markets through December, so there’s always something on. Stalls change each week, so it’s a good option if you want variety. You can easily combine it with late-night shopping and a wander around the lights.
Made in Cornwall Market
Late Nov / Early Dec
Held in Truro as well, this one only features makers and producers who are certified “Made in Cornwall”, so everything is genuinely local. Expect crafts, artwork, food, and handmade gifts. It’s a bit calmer than some of the bigger festivals.
Mousehole Lights
Mid-December onward
Not technically a market, but worth mentioning. The lights are iconic, and you’ll usually find pop-up stalls and places to grab food while you wander around. It’s a lovely one for an evening trip and feels very festive without trying too hard.
Porthleven & Helston Markets
Various dates
Both towns put on smaller Christmas markets with Cornish makers and food stalls. These have a more local, relaxed feel — good if you want something quieter than the big events.
A Festive Cornwall Stay
Cornwall in winter is calm, cosy, and full of things to do — from stormy beach walks to browsing independent shops and markets. If you’re staying with us this season, these Christmas markets make great day trips and an easy way to soak up the festive atmosphere.
