Here are a few ideas of how to have fun in a heat wave. We hope these are useful suggestions and that you enjoy them!
Get in the Pool
When the temperature hits 30C the best place to be is the swimming pool. It’s easy to spend a whole day relaxing on the loungers on the sundeck under a parasol, then having a dip in the pool to cool off, and repeat! The only problem with this is as the pool temperature averages 30 degree Celsius, it’s pretty warm also!
BBQ in the Shade
Built in BBQ’s are a big feature of our cottages. We are frequently wandering around the grounds smelling tempting, yummy smells. The BBQ by the pool is very popular as a lunch or evening venue. It’s a great way to enjoy the peace, quiet and rural tranquillity that our secluded spot has to offer.
Golitha Falls
Up on Bodmin Moor about half an hour away by car, is the ancient woodland where the River Fowey rises. The trees provide a shady canopy under which you can walk, picnic, or splash in the river. Dogs love it here. It’s not easy underfoot with all the tree routes, so don’t take your buggy. It’s a great place to avoid the crowds on a busy day and enjoy the shade, greenery and sparkling clear water.
Carnglaze Caverns
These caves are a great day out near St. Neot on Bodmin Moor. This underground haven is a former mining site and home to an underground lake of crystal clear greeny blue water. Make the descent down 160 stairs into the caves where the temperature is usually around 10 degrees. Learn about Cornwall’s mining heritage as you explore, before heading above ground for a leafy wander in the faery garden.
However you enjoy the Cornish sunshine, and stay safe with a hat and sunscreen on, and drink plenty of water.
