Go for an Invigorating Winter Swim. Crooklets Beach Splash in Bude is an annual event, taking place every Christmas morning. With around 600 people this year expected to brave the elements, many people love to watch the madness from the surrounding cliffs.
Then it was time to dash back for the 4pm re-opening of the rainforest biome for the “show”… Eden’s website describes this new event as a “Walk Through the Enchanted Rainforest: A Theatre of Christmas Memories: a unique combination of live performance, installations, soundscapes and beautiful lighting brought to you by our talented friends at WildWorks theatre company”. Going in at twilight to explore as it gradually gets darker is truly magical (the darker the better) and a unique experience, to be highly recommended.
This visit was in 2014.
Robert Stephen Hawker, born in 1803, was the eccentric Parson of Morwenstow in coastal North Cornwall credited with originating the Harvest Festival we celebrate today. An eccentric Cornish vicar and poet, was is no ordinary chap…
The views during the whole walk to the beach were just breath taking. We had to stop and take more photos, as it was just so beautiful, a very memorable walk indeed. We all just loved the beach and had the best day. We paddled, swam, found jellyfish, played rounders, ate pasties, sunbathed and kept and eye on the tide.
Here are a few ideas of how to have fun in a heat wave. We hope these are useful suggestions and that you enjoy them!
Get in the Pool
When the temperature hits 30C the best place to be is the swimming pool. It’s easy to spend a whole day relaxing on the loungers on the sundeck under a parasol, then having a dip in the pool to cool off, and repeat! The only problem with this is as the pool temperature averages 30 degree Celsius, it’s pretty warm also!
We have been trying to decide who the main star of the show is, Aidan Turner playing the dashing Ross Poldark, or the Cornish landscape itself?
So in response to your enquiries we are just releasing our prices for 2018. We hope to meet you, or see you down on the farm again soon, Lou & Jez Conway :)
Lambing kicked off just before Easter, and we now have eight lambs out frolicking in the fields. The babies include two sets of twins, and they are all thriving on the farm. They love to play in the “climbing tree”, a tree with lots of routes about the ground.
Gourmet Cornwall at very affordable prices. Choose from the awarding winner local pub The Springer Spaniel, or, has anyone heard of a chef called Rick Stein? Actually, don’t choose, do both!
